Alliant Energy – Madison, Wisconsin
Alliant Energy uses DC Systems' RTscada™ products to smartly manage its Gridstream mesh radio network and acquire substation and feeder data. Our software provides the primary real-time data interface between the substation and Alliant Energy's EMS. DC Systems' RTscada products also provide monitoring of critical health information on the Alliant Energy mesh radio network, and consolidate multiple radio and device databases into a single integrated database. Technicians and administrators can easily access both operational and non-operational data from the database.
Austin Energy – Austin, TX
Austin Energy is the ninth largest community-owned electric utility in the U.S. The company uses the Landis+Gyr Gridstream mesh radio network for both AMI and distribution automation applications. DC Systems RTscada software monitors and manages communications on the Gridstream network, and acquires real-time secure device data. The RTscada solution prioritizes DA traffic and manages network bandwidth to ensure robust and reliable communications. It also provides the primary data interface for device SCADA data from substations and field devices to the EMS.
Calpine Corporation – California
Calpine is a major U.S. power company, delivering clean, cost-effective, reliable, and fuel-efficient electricity to customers and communities across the U.S. and Canada. DC Systems RTRIG™ Remote Intelligent Gateway software provides the interface between Calpine's geothermal and natural gas-fired power generation sites and the California Independent System Operator (CAISO). The RTRIG solution is a fully CAISO-certified platform for data acquisition and automatic generation control.
Chevron Oil Refinery – Richmond, California
Chevron Oil Refinery uses DC Systems' RTscada software for real-time substation SCADA management. The software provides an integrated view of all substations, alarming, HMI within the substations, sequence of events (SOE), mimic panel of the grid, and interface to the corporate historian.
Commonwealth Edison – Chicago, Illinois
Commonwealth Edison won the T&D Automation Project of the Year award at the DistribuTECH 2009 conference in San Diego, California. DC Systems partnered with ComEd and Landis+Gyr on the project, which uses fault circuit indicators (FCI) to expedite the time-consuming process of outage location detection. The FCIs provide real-time outage information to crews—including fault alarms, location, hourly loads, and temperatures—and serves the information to a historian for future analysis.
Pacific Gas and Electric Company – California
PG&E, one of the largest utilities in the U.S., provides natural gas and electricity to the northern two-thirds of California. DC Systems has worked closely with PG&E on SCADA and distribution automation systems since the early 1990s. Today, DC Systems' products can be found throughout PG&E's transmission and distribution grid—in substations and regional control centers, and at the corporate enterprise level. Philadelphia Energy Company – Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
PECO has created a new Smart Grid using DC Systems' RTASR™ software to monitor distribution feeders and manage outages. When an outage is detected, the RTASR product determines the location of the fault and automatically opens SCADA switches to isolate the fault without operator intervention. The RTASR logic includes extensive safety checks, and monitors line capacity, recloser trips, and loading of the substation transformer bank.
Pepco – Washington, D.C.
Pepco is a leader in incorporating the latest advanced applications to modernize its distribution grid. Pepco won the coveted Apex Award from the Utilities Telecom Council in 2007 for an automation project that improved the reliability of its electrical operations in the Washington, D.C. area. The project uses DC Systems’ RTASR Auto-Sectionalizing and Restoration software to shorten outages and keep the maximum number of customers in service. The RTASR solution automatically detects a line fault, isolates the fault and provides an appropriate backfeed to restore customers quickly and safely. Shell Oil Refinery – Martinez, California
Shell Oil Refinery uses DC Systems’ RTscada software as the primary operator interface for the refinery’s electrical distribution system. The solution provides plant management with load data from the company’s electrical grid system. DC Systems also helps enable automatic load shedding for Shell’s co-generation facility with the local utility.
